The displayed mite is the most important honey bee parasite, Varroa destructor and has been treated with a new biopesticide to explore how this treatment enters the mite. The red fluorescence inside the abdomen indicates the successful uptake of the biopesticide through cuticular exposure. The mite is approximately 2mm wide.
