Openness on animal research around the world

The Concordat on Openness on Animal Research in the UK was the world’s first openness agreement committing signatories to open animal research communications. Since its launch in May 2014, it has inspired the creation of similar agreements across the world.

There are now transparency agreements in SpainPortugalBelgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, and Switzerland.

In 2021 ANZCCART launched the New Zealand Openness Agreement on Animal Research and Teaching.

In 2023 ANZCCART launched the Australian Openness Agreement on Animal Research and Teaching.

Both agreements are managed by ANZCCART, supporting the scientific community to take defined steps towards greater openness on their use of animals in research.
